The Special Areas Board is currently seeking a skilled Tire Technician with strong organizational and time management abilities. In this role, you will manage the inventory of tires and related repair equipment, ensuring efficient workflow. Primary functions include the installation, balancing, rotation, and repair of tires for the Special Areas Board fleet, working both indoors and outdoors on a variety of vehicles, including light-duty, heavy duty, and off-road equipment. The position also involves performing maintenance and inspections on water pumps to ensure peak operational performance and coordinating with the Service Writer for the timely delivery of pumps and discharge hoses. Additionally, you will operate a service truck (mobile tire changing unit) and respond promptly to on-site service requests, ranging from routine fleet inspections to urgent repair needs, while documenting any issues with pumps, hoses, or tires to maintain reliability and minimize downtime.
Description:
Key Duties will include:
- Perform mounting and dismounting tasks for tires on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, and equipment, including agricultural machinery, for repair or replacement purposes.
- Conduct installations of both new and used tires, as well as rotations, balancing, flat repairs, and handling of loose mounts and dismounts.
- Utilize the mobile tire changing truck to respond promptly to Special Areas Board locations for on-site tire repairs, replacements, or down machine repairs as needed.
- Maintain water pumps, including both Power Take-Off (P.T.O.) and engine-driven types, to ensure optimal operational efficiency. Coordinate with the Service Writer for timely delivery of pumps and discharge hoses upon request.
- Inspect pumps and discharge hoses for any damage or malfunctions occurring during rental periods, documenting issues for reporting.
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 or GED (or equivalent), combined with progressive experience in the mechanical repair trade and fleet preventative maintenance.
- Competent working knowledge in the care and use of all tools and equipment common to this position.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion in dealing with requests, complaints and clarification of information; proven ability to use good judgement to interpret, analyze and modify methods and procedures.
- Physical capability to perform the job duties required - lifting up to 50lbs.
- Intermediate computer skills with average working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

- Valid Class 5 AB Driver's License required - Class 3 (Q) Endorsement preferred
