Kneehill County Parks & Agricultural Services is seeking detailed, industrious, sensible, and energetic individuals for Seasonal Parks Technician positions. Successful individuals will contribute to Parks and Public Lands programming through maintenance, improvements and beautification of parks, cemeteries, and other Kneehill County properties, as well as complete other duties as required determined by the Manager of Parks & Agricultural Services or Designate. Weekly Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Duties of the successful candidate will include:
- Routine maintenance and cleaning of recreational sites and campgrounds.
- Conduct landscape maintenance and projects on public lands, parks, hamlets and cemeteries.
- Operate equipment such as; all mowing equipment, chainsaw, forklift, skid steer, utility tractor, etc.
- Plant and/or move and maintain trees, shrubs, grassed areas and/or gardens and other plants.
- Build, paint or repair fencing, retaining walls, picnic tables and other small Parks infrastructure as required.
- Maintaining daily records and work order documentation
- Regular Cleaning & maintenance of vehicles, equipment and shop space
- Participate in safety documentation, meetings and training as part of Kneehill County’s safety program.
- Assist the department in identifying and reporting hazards, damaged infrastructure, and other matters of worker and public safety interest
- Other duties as determined by the Manager of Parks & Agricultural Services or designate.
Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in landscaping or similar industry and/or relevant post-secondary education
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License;
- Experience with towing trailers and operating equipment
- Mechanical knowledge and aptitude to repair and maintain equipment;
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team and on their own;
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with supervisors, co-workers and the public;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Experience in carpentry / woodworking / landscape construction would be considered an asset
- Able to follow instructions as given and prioritize tasks;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform work outdoors in all weather conditions;
- An asset but not required for the position would be holding an Alberta Pesticide Applicators Certification or the eligibility to obtain an Alberta Authorized Assistant Applicators License
