The Kneehill Community Support Coach contributes to the Kneehill Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) mission to maintain and strengthen the quality of life by planning and facilitating universal, preventive, evidence-based educational programs that promote social and emotional wellbeing of children, youth and families in the communities of Three Hills, Trochu, Carbon, Acme, Linden and Kneehill County. The group programs will provide opportunity for participants to develop resilience, leadership and life-skills while connecting with others and their community in a positive way.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Building relationships with a wide variety of individuals, groups and communities
  • Ensuring a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment for all participants
  • Providing opportunities for children/youth to develop leadership and life skills
  • Planning and delivering preventive education for children, youth and families in groups utilizing evidence-based programs
  • Providing social and emotional education and support
  • Working collaboratively with fellow staff, families, other agencies and schools
  • Working as part of a team
  • Developing and maintaining awareness of community resources and supports
  • Making referrals to appropriate agencies as necessary
  • Following Work Alone policy and procedures when facilitating group programs alone at various venues within the Kneehill area.
  • Evaluating the services and supports delivered
  • Completing and submitting standard program reports to the supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University Degree in the Human Services field would be an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening)
  • Highly effective organizational and time management skills
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works well independently while contributing positively to the team
  • Ability to encourage and inspire others
  • Ability to listen without judgement

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, youth and families
  • Criminal record vulnerable sector and Children’s Services Intervention checks
  • Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours of Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30
  • Upon hiring willing to complete and maintain Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and first aid training

Reporting:

  • This position will report to the Kneehill Regional FCSS Director

Details:

  • $54,000 – 58,000 depending on education and experience
  • Full time yearly contract position – 37.5 hours/week; 1950 annual
  • Three weeks vacation time
  • 75 hours of sick time per contract year
