Position Overview:
The Fossil Shop in Drumheller is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused summer students to join our retail team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about paleontology/geology and eager to provide exceptional service to visitors exploring Alberta's rich fossil heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers, offering information about our fossil collections and merchandise
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS)system to process transactions accurately
- Maintain store cleanliness and organize product displays to enhance the shopping experience
- Restock shelves and monitor inventory levels, reporting any discrepancies
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues professionally
Work Schedule:
This is a seasonal position running from May to August, with varying shifts to accommodate the shop's operating hours and tourist traffic.
Qualifications:
- An interest in retail, tourism, or paleontology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Basic math skills and familiarity with cash handling procedures
- Previous retail or customer service expreience is an asset but not required
