Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly individual to join our team as Historical Interpreter and Library Assistant for the summer season. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student or an individual passionate about history, education, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engaging, informative tours for visitors of all ages.
- Share the history of Morrin and the region through storytelling and artifact explanations.
- Greet and assist visitors, answer questions, and provide exceptional customer service
- Handlebook borrows & returns.
- Assist Library Manager with developing and facilitating Youth Summer Reading Program.
- Assist in creating and delivering educational programs and special events.
- Participate in interactive demonstrations or themed activities.
- Help with exhibit upkeep, cleaning, and general site maintenance.
- Assist with cataloging and care of historical artifacts and books
Qualifications:
- Interest in local history, heritage, or museum studies (preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and public speaking skills.
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with the public.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills
- Must be available to work an occasional weekend as needed.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age
- Successful candidates will require a criminal record check.
- Must have a social insurance number
Compensation:
- Hourly wage of $16
- Gain valuable experience in heritage interpretation and museum operations.
- Gain experience in public library services.
