Job Description:
The assistant curator assists with the delivery of museum services.
This includes all functions related to the operation of a community museum:
- Collection management
- Exhibit creation
- Marketing
- Research
- Collection of historical data
- Gift shop
- Custodian duties
The Museum Curatorial Assistant isresponsible for assisting in the delivery of museum services, including:
- Assists with care and management of the collection while observing conservation standards and best practices for cataloguing data base management exhibition and storage.
- Assists with the creation of meaningful exhibitions and related programming; includes updating permanent exhibit themes and interactive components as needed, ensuring the preservation of our community’s heritage.
- Assists with marketing and public relations using a variety of media including digital and print.
- Assists with the coordination and execution of public events.
- As directed, opens and closes the museum, manages admissions and sales,provides information to visitors and tourists, and performs a limited scope of minor maintenance duties.
- Demonstrates cultural competency, and is able to provide service to, and work with, a diverse array of visitors and community partners.
