Canadian Badlands Aquatic Club Assistant Coach
The Canadian Badlands Aquatic Club (CBAC) is a competitive swim team for youth ages 7-17 in Drumheller, Alberta. We are seeking a passionate, and friendly individual to join our team as an Assistant Coach for our September to April swim season.
Duties
- Development of training workouts for swimmers
- Directing, educating and advising swimmers while delivering the workout
- Attending all swim practices, and ensure swimmer health and safety
- Support the set-up and teardown of the pool and equipment for a workout
- Develop a seasonal training plan as directed by the Head Coach
- Perform goalsetting with swimmers as directed by the Head Coach
- Travel and attend swim meets if required
- Advise swimmer placement in swim team levels through the Head Coach
- Work with all coaches and board members to ensure the success of the swim team
Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of swimming techniques and safety protocols - competitive swimming knowledge is an asset
- Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience working with children ages 7+
- Swim Coaching or Swim Instructing experience are an asset
- Community Coaching or Swimming 101 Certifications are an asset
This commitment is 4 hours of active coaching per week, as well as 1-2 hours per week of planning workouts at a rate of $20 per hour.
Selected candidates can expect to shadow and be mentored by our coaches to gain knowledge and experience as an assistant coach.
Eventually, they will run a swim team level on their own, with direction from the Head Coach.
