Position Summary

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all roads, signs, and right-of-ways within the community. This position is essential for ensuring public safety and maintaining critical infrastructure, requiring a proactive approach and readiness for emergency response.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks crucial to maintaining infrastructure and ensuring public safety. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Operating heavy equipment, including plow trucks and loaders, for snow removal and material handling.

* Performing road maintenance activities, such as pothole filling and minor asphalt work.

* Maintaining road signage, which involves straightening, cleaning, and replacing signs as needed.

* Engaging in road maintenance and other infrastructure repair projects.

* Performing general shop duties, including equipment checks, cleaning, and maintenance.

* Serving in an emergency response capacity as required, often outside of normal business hours.

* Controlling and directing traffic during work zones using proper flagging procedures.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Candidates must be physically fit for duty and able to perform strenuous work in all weather conditions. This includes the ability to:

* Lift and carry heavy objects (up to [Specify Weight, e.g., 50-75] lbs) frequently.

* Stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and reach for extended periods.

* Work outdoors in extreme weather, including cold, heat, rain, and snow.

* Be available for on-call, overtime, and night/weekend work, especially during winter storm events.

Required Qualifications

* Mandatory: Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., air brake).

* Minimum of two years of experience in heavy equipment operation or road maintenance. But will train the right candidate.

* Ability to read maps, follow detailed instructions, and complete necessary paperwork.

Will require pre employment Drug/alcohol test and Clean CDL abstract

Must live within 40 mins of Stettler Alberta
