At Metalex, we design, manufacture, and build innovative metal building systems for industries ranging from oil & gas to agriculture and commercial construction. With a unique advantage as both a manufacturer and builder, we’re entering a high-growth phase and seeking a strategic-minded Senior Estimator to help us scale profitably.
This is not a “numbers only” role, you’ll have a seat at the table with senior leadership, input on which projects we pursue, and the chance to build an estimating function that’s best-in-class.
The Opportunity
- Own the Estimating Function: Take charge of estimating processes across self-framing buildings, foam panel solutions, and large-scale custom projects
- Influence Strategy: Work directly with the leadership team to shape bid strategies, margins, and market positioning
- Lead Complex Bids: Manage high-value, multi-million-dollar bids where precision and strategy win the day
- Improve How We Win: Implement new tools, methodologies, and data analytics to make Metalex faster, smarter, and more competitive in the market
- Mentor & Build: Help develop junior estimators, creating a high-performing team under your guidance
- Strategic Pricing: Partner with leadership to develop and implement pricing strategies that enhance competitiveness while meeting profitability targets
- Career Trajectory: This role is designed with growth in mind—for the right candidate, there is a clear path toward Estimating Manager or leadership-level responsibilities as Metalex continues to scale
What You’ll Bring
- Experience:
- Experience with Self Framing metal buildings (preferred)
- 5+ years of estimating experience in construction, steel fabrication, or building manufacturing (Requirement)
- Technical Expertise: Strong ability to read blueprints, interpret technical data, and understand construction sequencing
- Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to balance competitiveness with profitability in bid strategies
- Leadership: Ability to influence decision-making, collaborate with executives, and mentor others
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Excel, estimating software, and ERP systems
- Strategic Thinking: A track record of adding value beyond the numbers, helping realize wins, reduce risk, and a drive to solve customers’ challenges
Education
- Technical diploma, engineering degree, or journeyman sheet metal ticket preferred
- Equivalent senior-level estimating experience in metal buildings will also be considered
