Public Works Foreman

The Village of Morrin is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Public Works Foreman. The Public Works Foreman is a laborer position working within the public works department for maintenance of village-owned properties and parks. The position is a full-time position from Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Duties may include but not limited to:

• Grass mowing, trimming, pruning of trees
• Weed control on village property
• Painting and general maintenance on village own buildings and equipment
• Collection of garbage and other litter
• Operating a variety of light and medium duty vehicles and equipment associated with the public works department
• Snow removal from streets and avenues, sweeping, and snow shovelling
• Utilizing hand tools and small motorized equipment as required
• Inspect and repair equipment as required
• Maintenance of potholes on streets and avenues
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Level 1 Water Certification preferred or be willing to obtain certification
• Must be able to work independently and/ or part of a team
• Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work of the position
• Ability to acquire basic First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Confined Space and Ground Disturbance Certificates and gain knowledge of OH&S Act, regulation and code
• Must possess valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License-failure to retain a valid Class 5 license will result in termination
• Physically capable of performing all aspects of work related to the duties and responsibilities assigned
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English and follow verbal and written instructions
• Five years abstracts required

Work Conditions:

• Individual be self-motivated and enjoy working outdoors
• Maybe required to work overtime and/or weekends
• Meet and deal tactfully, courteously, and accurately with the public and other municipal staff
• Maybe exposed to hazardous materials, heavy equipment, and various environmental conditions at work sites
• Adhere to the Village of Morrin's Alcohol and Drug Policy
