This position has the responsibility of the day-to-day operation of the painting facilities. Scope includes coating and painting fabricated product, direct supervision of subordinate workers, care and condition of facilities and equipment, and cooperation/collaboration with other shifts and departments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Ensure that OH&S regulations and the corporate safety manual are being met
· Work with Quality Control to ensure quality requirements are being followed and met
· Organize and plan daily activities in the shop according to priorities and current shop workload
· Identify and report maintenance items
· Look for ways to improve efficiency, heighten quality and improve safety
· Operate and service all equipment associated with painting, insulating and sandblasting(hand-held spray equipment)
· Instruct apprentices in their trade specific procedures, use and service of equipment associated with painting, insulating and sandblasting
· Ensure compliance with all WHMIS and environmental regulations regarding the storage, use and disposal of hazardous chemicals
· Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
· Proven leadership experience
· Strong understanding of various paint processes with a desire to optimize and improve
· Self-motivated fast learner and ability to work independently
· Good written and verbal communication skills
