Seasonal Position Available (June through October)
- Wage position at $21.8093/hr - $25.8048/hr depending upon experience, training and education
- 8-hour workday (Monday through Friday) - Overtime may be required during peak periods of operation
Workplace – Youngstown Service Centre – Travel throughout the Special Areas is required.
The Special Areas Board seeks a reliable and safety-conscious individual to join our Facilities team as a seasonal Maintenance Service Worker. This temporary full-time position will perform routine manual work in a variety of fields. Reporting to the Facilities Foreman, this role will assist skilled tradespeople with construction, renovation and repair activities while ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
Description:
Responsibilities include:
- Mowing, weed whipping, debris cleanup and other landscaping needs
- Snow removal including operating a shovel, leaf blower, snow blower and skid steer
- Loading and unloading materials
- Fencing and repairs; site cleanup and organizing
- Working with hand tools and power tools necessary to complete tasks not associated with trades
- Assisting carpenters with construction tasks including construction, maintenance tasks on a variety of equipment such as boilers, furnances, HVAC equipment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Assist in ground disturbance tasks including digging with and without mechanical equipment
- Perform general maintenance needs to offices, fire halls, grader shops, water buildings and all other facility types in the Special Areas assigned.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Other duties are required and assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Physical capability to perform the job duties required - lifting up to 50 lbs., bending and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently after adequately trained
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- BAsic knowledge of construction tools, materials andmethods
- Valid Class 5 AB Driver's License
Important Considerations for Applicants
- Previous experience in a trade or maintenance environment is an asset
- Active certification in Ground Disturbance is preferred; training will be provided for the select candidate
- This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug tresting will be conducted
