We are seeking a motivated and organized Junior Legal Assistant to join our law office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in the legal field and wants to develop practical experience in a professional office environment.
The successful candidate will receive training and work closely with lawyers and senior staff on a variety of administrative and legal-support tasks.
Responsibilities
Assist lawyers with day-to-day administrative and legal support
Prepare, format, scan, copy, organize, and file documents
Maintain electronic and physical client files
Schedule appointments, meetings, and court-related dates
Answer telephone calls and respond to routine client inquiries professionally
Draft basic correspondence, letters, and forms using templates
Enter and maintain information in the firm's computer system
Assist with document organization and preparation for meetings, discoveries, hearings, and other proceedings
Monitor deadlines and assist with maintaining calendars
Perform basic legal research and information gathering as directed
Prepare and send correspondence and documents
Assist with billing, time entry, invoicing, and general office administration
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.
Previous office, administrative, customer-service, or legal experience is an asset but not required
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and general office technology
Ability to learn new software and procedures
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
