Job Description:

The Town of Drumheller is seeking an individual to fill the Equipment Operator lll position.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for operating various types of equipment and vehicles and especially heavy duty equipment over 30,000 lbs GVW. Required to perform the daily maintenance required on that piece of equipment and will perform general labouring duties. Performs direct supervision of other staff as a lead hand.

Preferred Skills:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 Minimum 18 years of age and have completed Grade 12 or equivalent
 Valid Class 3 driver’s license, preference Air Brake Endorsement, with ability to operate and maintain department machinery
 Demonstrate ability to operate various types of equipment such as Tandem Gravel Truck, Sewer Flush Truck, Grader, Backhoe, Front End Loader, Crawler Tractor, Auger and Pole Cat Truck, Street Sweeper and Self Propelled Snow Blower
 Must be able to perform all duties with minimum supervision and work effectively with variable work loads
 Experienced in providing advice and direction to other staff assigned for a particular job(s) or project
 Must be able to read and write English
 May be required to take Supervisory courses from Canadian Public Works Association or equivalent courses would be an asset.
 May be required to assume On-call duties on a rotational basis
 May be required to take training related to the duties of a higher classification of upgrading within the present classification.
