Seasonal Equipment Operators/Maintenance Workers

Term Seasonal Wage Positions Available for 2024

Positions available include:

  • Grader Beat Operators
  • Brush Cutter/Mower Crew Operators
  • Gravel Crew Operators-Loader/Checker/Water Haul
  • Bridge Crew Operators-Rubber Tire Hoe
  • Water Truck Drivers (Class 3 Drivers Licence)
  • Patch and Sign Crew Drivers/Operators.
  • Industry Permits and Inspections oversight duties

Workplace Locations, Hours of Work – General Rates of Pay

  • Hourly rates starting at $21.8093 - $36.3330 depending upon licencing, experience/education
  • Work week hours are dependent on assignment – majority of placements are within Special Areas 2 (Hanna area), 3 (Oyen area) and 4 (Consort area) and Youngstown Service Center (Monday through Friday)

Description: Key Duties will include:

  • Operation of road maintenance equipment for tasks such as grading, weed and brush control
  • Gravel loading, delivery and spreading
  • Erecting signs and snow fence
  • Equipment servicing and minor repairs
  • Delivering the Special Areas Safety Program and all reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED) – combination of experience/education will be considered
  • Prior road maintenance and/or construction experience is an asset
  • Physical capabilities to perform job duties - required lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge in the care and use of tools and equipment common to these positions
  • Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion and use good judgement
  • Valid Drivers’ Licence

Preference may be given to candidates possessing:

  • Class 3 AB Drivers Licence – Air Endorsement
  • Class 1 Drivers Licence

Important Considerations for Applicants

  • These are designated safety sensitive positions and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on all newly hired employees
  • These positions will be working outside completing fieldwork in rural-remote areas
  • Availability to work into September/October
  • Overtime work may be expected as a part of this role.
