Healthy Families Practitioner

Healthy Families at Accredited Supports to the Community is seeking a highly professional and independent Practitioner for a 12-month term for the area of Three Hills, Hanna, and Drumheller.

As a Home Visitor, you will provide one-on-one parenting support and child development information to families with children under six. Partnering with families, you will help them manage the complex challenges of modern life and parenting. You will use your strong problem-solving skills and knowledge about community resources. You will also use your excellent communication skills and non-judgmental attitude to guide families towards their goals to strengthen their family.

ASC is a non-profit society who helps over 1500 families every year in South Central Alberta. Operating for over 45 years, ASC provides Community Disability Services for adults, children, and their families as well as a Parent - Child Assistance Program (PCAP), and Healthy Family Services.

Full time (Temporary Term)


• Perform case management activities according to Healthy Family policies and procedures, in a highly confidential and professional manner

• Manage case load of clients and their families

• Schedule and attend home visitations

• Build relationships

• Assist clients in setting goals and identify steps to achieve their goals

• Identify community providers whose services are relevant to client needs

• Collect and enter data online

• Attend and participate in weekly individual supervision with site supervisor/coordinator to discuss client needs, goals and issues

• Positively represent ASC – networking

The Choice Candidate:

• Knowledge of mental health and child development

• 2 years of experience working with families and children or equivalent combination of education and work experience

• A Degree or Diploma in Social Services or related field

• The ability to travel on scheduled workdays

• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with families

• Ability to conduct interviews covering extremely sensitive and confidential issues

• Problem solves in crisis situations

• Work efficiently in the field with little supervision

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to prioritize

• Technology oriented, access to Wi-Fi

• Teamwork is essential with the ability to collaborate in virtual meetings

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle

• Clear criminal record and child intervention record check
